The questions worth asking.
How much does a gorilla permit cost?
Rwanda’s standard foreign visitor permit is US$1,500 per person, per trek. Uganda’s standard foreign non-resident permit is US$800; special seasonal rates may apply under UWA rules. These are permit fees, not safari package prices. Eligibility, travel date and availability are reconfirmed before quoting.
How long is the trek, and who can take part?
The minimum gorilla trekking age is 15. Hiking time varies with terrain and the gorillas’ location; a short hike cannot be promised. Standard viewing time is one hour. Tell us about mobility needs before a route or booking is agreed, so appropriate options can be checked with the park.
When is the best time to visit?
Gorilla trekking is available year-round. June to September and December to February are commonly drier periods, although rain is possible in every month. Travelling in wetter months can offer a different atmosphere; trail conditions and lodge demand should guide the decision.
Can I combine Rwanda with Mgahinga in Uganda?
Yes, subject to permits, entry eligibility and operating conditions. The Virunga Connection uses a dedicated cross-border transfer day and a Kigali night before departure. The exact crossing and transport plan are confirmed for your dates.
Are the journeys private?
The proposed road transfers and itinerary are private to your party. Park activities follow park rules: Rwanda gorilla trekking normally takes place in ranger-led groups of up to eight visitors. A private vehicle does not mean an exclusive gorilla group.
What happens after I design my journey?
The planner creates a trip brief you can download. You may then choose WhatsApp to prepare a message to +256 755 548 718, or Email my brief to open a draft in your configured email app addressed to journeys@rwandadmc.com. Review it in your chosen app and press Send to contact the team. The website does not send automatically, hold permits, confirm bookings or take payment.
